How Does The Orca Stay Alive?
Protection
Orcas do not have to worry about enemies. One reason is because that they do not have any predators, they are at the top of the food chain! Orcas swim in pods as well. Together they outnumber attackers and protect each other. Orcas also protect their young fiercely. Orcas also have a protective feature called countershading. This is a form of protection that sharks and dolphins also use. Swimming in pods also helps. It helps orcas outnumber attackers. If a shark attacks a pod of orcas, the orcas will probably bring down the shark and have shark pancakes the next day! Pods help orcas fish as well. One orca can go after one fish, and soon the pod of orcas will have a fish feast for dinner. |
